Evaluating PvP gear for 1.2

Soon the patch will be upon us and we will be trading out our Battle Master gear for the brand new War Hero Set. The new gear is clearly an upgrade to the current gear we can obtain and it retains the same set bonuses so you don't have to worry about losing your 15% Rail Shot critical bonus.

Non Rated War Hero Eliminators Set
However 1.2 also brings crafters the ability to critically craft custom gear. So what does this mean for us Bounty Hunters?
Well when you critically craft a piece of gear it has a chance to obtain an Augment slot allowing for the addition of an Augment. With 1.2 allowing us to pull the Armor mods out of the War Hero gear in addition to the set bonuses it carries, we can place them in critically crafted custom gear along with Augments for better stats.

So basically in order to compete with everyone else we will have to use this custom gear with the mods from the new War Hero gear along with Augments in each slot. While this does give us a bit more customization options I fear that all the effort the game artists put into our awesome looking War Hero set will be for nothing because we're all going to be running around in level 30 something armor.

Fully geared Rank 1 War Hero
So for now start getting your credits ready, the best looking pieces will surely sell for the highest. And remember if your wearing the actual War Hero gear, your doing it wrong.

Have fun collecting the best looking Bounty Hunter gear. And please no more slave girl outfits, that does not belong on the most feared Bounty Hunter in the galaxy.

Morality

Being a Bounty Hunter isn't always so cut and dry. Sometimes you gotta make the tough choices that really lay on both sides of the spectrum. Good and Evil are never as clear when your a Bounty Hunter.

Do you grant mercy to those who ask for it? Do people deserve a second chance or is carrying out the bounty more important than anything. If there is one thing you can't change its your reputation. Being a called a vile murder and reliable or mercyful and known for letting your marks escape is what reputation is all about.

A true Bounty Hunter does not associate their emotions with their work. Whether they reveal in chaos or abhor it completely, its irrelevant.

How do you feel about morality? Does it really matter to a Bounty Hunter?

Dirty Jobs

Being a Bounty Hunter isn't all credits and glory. Sometimes you gotta get down and dirty and go places no one else will to track down a mark. Aside from the resistance they put up, finding your target is usually half the work. Nothing is quite as satisfying as blasting some idiot that made you chase him halfway across the galaxy. Always nice seeing "Wanted Dead or Alive" on the bounty information.

Some people equate Bounty Hunters to common hit men sent out to assassinate individuals who made someone mad enough to want them dead. While that may seem like what Bounty Hunting is all about, there is a code of honor among Bounty Hunters.

Simply put: May the Strongest Bounty Hunter win.

To a Bounty Hunter the credits are just icing on the cake, the real reward is the Hunt itself.

So how about those Talent Trees

Being a Bounty Hunter isn't easy, I mean we have to hunt down and find everyone dumb enough to earn a death mark. Sometimes these targets turn out to be well armed and a pain to deal with. It always helps to specialize.

Today we are going over the two Bounty Hunter Mercenary damage talent layouts.

ARSENAL

Arsenal is all about sending a lot of ordinance into the direction of whoever was unlucky enough to piss you off. With the signature spell being Tracer Missile, Arsenal focuses on high sustained burst with short intervals of high damage instant attacks.

The base Arsenal Build looks something like: 0/31/0

With the 10 points you have left over you'll probably want to grab Hired Muscle and Med Tech from the body guard tree. Something to note you want to avoid any talents that boost Alacrity. The reason for this stems from Terminal Velocity.
Basically a critical hit with your Tracer Missile will vent heat every 3 seconds. With Tracer Missile having a 1.5 second cooldown you can effectively vent 8 heat every other Tracer Missile cast. If you have any Alacrity then that will push it to every third Tracer Missile cast.

PYROTECH

Pyrotech's focus on setting the target ablaze with Incendiary Missile and letting them burn. Combined with heavy blaster fire, a Pyrotech can fry someone in no time flat. Pyrotech is all about bursting someone down while correctly managing heat.

The base Pyrotech Build looks something like: 0/0/31

With 10 extra points to spread around its worth going deep into Arsenal to pick up Muzzle Fluting to reduce your overall heat from Power Shot. Unlike Arsenal, Pyrotechs have much stricter heat management. Incendiary Missile costs a staggering 25 heat so its not advised to spam this or you'll find yourself overheating in no time.
It's interesting to note that unlike Arsenal Alacrity isn't avoided at all cost, however it isn't more desired than critical and surge rating.
